This project relies heavily on the book by Brown entitled The Community of the Beloved Disciple

Introduction

The basic assumption in this research project is that the writer of the gospel who we call John without prejudice to any eventual hypothesis about who actually wrote it, wrote for a community and chose his words carefully not only to tell the story of Jesus but also to be relevant to the community, their history, their hopes and their fears.
